Reclassification

Students who speak another language at home besides English are given an English Language Development (CELDT) test once a year. They are expected to progress one level each year until they reach the Advanced level. In addition, English learners take the California Standards Test starting in second grade annually. Students are reclassified as Fluent English speakers once students have reached proficiency in English in both tests.
Reclassification Celebration
Every year we celebrate the accomplishments and hard work of our Reclassified English learners by presenting them with certificates and medals. Students are honored at an awards assembly during school. Families of reclassified students enjoy cake and punch afterwards in the lunch court.
